Littleton, CO -- (November 18, 2008) -- Mi Cocina, a Mexican restaurant located for over 10 years in Littleton, Colorado recently installed a solar structure above an existing patio to create an awning that not only shades the diners, but also generates the electricity used to prepare their food.
Saul Sierra, owner of the restaurant has dedicated the popular spot to the renewable energy cause. After ten years at the same location he decided to make an investment in future generations. The 3.99kW solar awning structure is expected to cover up to 20% of the electric utility consumption. This will be an annual carbon offset of 7,958 pounds of CO2. The cost of the installation was offset by a rebate from Xcel Energy and a federal tax credit for businesses that utilize renewable energy options.
BOULDER, Colo. – (December 11, 2008) - Boulder County residents recently approved Ballot Measure 1A that allows residential and commercial property owners to receive financing for home improvements in renewable energy.
Lighthousesolar attended the December 2nd workshop that sought public comment to help define the new ClimateSmart loan program for both residential and commercial properties. The County will initially issue special assessment bonds up to $40 million for residential property owners interested in solar power or other energy efficiency improvements starting as soon as February 2009.
