Cycle For the Future AJ Johnson

Friend of Verde, AJ Johnson, a talented photographer, filmmaker, creative director and morning hugger, is setting off on an adventure Starting June 1. If you and/or your brand would like to get involved let us know!

AJ, below, gives us some background on his upcoming ride from border to border.

AJ here! In short, it all started with a simple idea - 1) to go X-Large, and 2) to do something that matters...at the same time. That's why, next month, starting June 1, 2019, I'll be riding my bike along the Pacific Coast from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico in an effort to raise college tuition money and overall awareness for the trafficked children supported by the Touch A Life Foundation, where my sister, Rachel, has worked for 10 years!

I will be joined by a scout/follow car (fitted with a cartop camper), driven by my mom, Beth (I love you, Mooommm!!,) and, for a majority of the trip, a good pal & cycling buddy, Nelson Rudolph. Over the course of 5 or 6 weeks, and approximately 1,800 miles (wherein we'll be camping at various sites along the way), our goal is to raise $20,000 so we can send Doris, Felix, Justina, and Wisdom into the next chapter of their educational lives - COLLEGE!...which is how this project, Cycle for the Future, got its name. As many of Touch A Life's rescued children begin to graduate from the Care Center in Ghana, we're all confronting the need to find ways to create revenue streams that can help catapult these RAD kids into the next chapter of their lives as healthy & productive young men & women...by providing a purse to pay for vocational training & university tuition.

For something like this, I know it takes a village. That's where you come in.
Any & every contribution helps, and ultimately amounts to much more than a drop in the bucket. If you are able & feel compelled to give to this project financially, I would be extremely humbled & grateful to have you contribute whatever you can by using the donation page we’ve set up here. In very short order, we're also planning to have some merchandise available for purchase (i.e. dad caps, hoodies, etc.). Though donating directly to Touch A Life is ABSOLUTELY our number one priority, we've also set up a GoFundMe page to help offset personal expenses associated with the trip such as gas, food, spare bike tires, etc., to which you can also give, should you feel compelled :)
If you can’t contribute financially, there are SO many other ways to get involved & help support the Cycle for the Future team that are just as valuable. If you want to host the team (AJ, Nelson, and Beth), cook us a warm meal, or RIDE ALONG for any portion of the trip (on your bike), even for a few miles or a few days, please don’t hesitate to reach out & get in touch (via my contact information in the e-mail signature below)! We will also be posting pictures, ride updates, and route information on my instagram (@randolphbinks), our team instagram (@cycleforthefuture), and on our website/blog, and would love to have you follow along, comment, and share with your friends & family (and not your friends!). In that same vein, it would also make a big difference were you to forward this e-mail to handful of your favorite spiritual warriors to help extend our reach and get us to that next donation!

Your support makes ALL the difference. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Much love to each and every one of you.

Please let us know if you’d like to be a part of supporting AJ’s ride across America!
