PEARL iZUMi introduces new footwear styles for fall 2019
New shoes in the road, gravel and indoor spin categories round out the new collection
LOUISVILLE, Colo., (November, 7 2019) — PEARL iZUMi, the world’s leader in cycling apparel and footwear, introduces a number of new shoes, including the brand’s first ever shoe designed specifically for gravel riding, a women’s style designed exclusively for indoor studio cycling and a new top performing road shoe featuring a full carbon-fiber sole.
The new PRO Road v5 ($400) is the lightest, most comfortable, high-performance road shoe PEARL iZUMi has ever made. With a fully knitted upper which provides zonal stretch, high breathability and the added benefit of reduced waste. The result of two years of R&D, the 1:1 ® Pro Air Carbon Power Plate removes material wherever possible to drop weight and add ventilation, without sacrificing stiffness. Dual Boa® IP1 reels allow 1-mm micro-adjustability and pop up for full release. The PRO Road v5 also has a dual density 1:1 footbed that is ergonomically designed to provide optimal support, pedaling efficiency, and comfort.
With the growth of the gravel market and PEARL iZUMi’s devotion to innovation in cycling shoes, the X-ALP Gravel ($150) was created for big miles and rough roads, combining the closer fit of a performance road shoe with the walkable sole technology found throughout the PEARL iZUMi MTB shoe range. With a seamless perforated upper, this shoe has improved breathability and comfort. The L6 Boa® System with sequence routing allows for a customized fit with micro-adjustability and an even, secure closure. Whether spending a casual afternoon in the saddle or racing in the next Dirty Kanza, the 1:1 ® Next Step Nylon composite sole of the X-ALP® Gravel delivers uncompromising pedaling performance and confidence for off-the-bike hike-ability. A reinforced toe bumper adds even more durability and protection to this gravel-centric bike shoe.
The new Wander indoor cycling collection adds a studio bike shoe to PEARL iZUMi’s spring product lineup. The women’s Vesta Studio ($125) bike shoe is made to perform on and off the bike. Constructed with a recessed cleat design, these shoes are not only easy to walk-in, but women can feel comfortably stylish wearing them for a post-ride brunch to refuel. A mesh forefoot delivers additional breathability and comfort to these studio shoes. A single strap allows for an easy on/off in a busy gym environment. The Vesta Studio bike shoe comes in three colors: Black/Atomic Red, White/Fog, and Phantom/Air. Available November 2019 on pearlizumi.com.
The new Attack Road ($160) has a seamless upper and carbon-insert sole, this road cycling shoe is packed with high end tech for an affordable price. With bonded mesh to the heavily perforated upper in a seamless construction to give the shoe a more comfortable fit. A single L6 BOA closure provides equal pressure across the instep. The heel features a 1cm rise to make walking easier, and the sole is set up to give riders the option to use a two-bolt or a three-bolt cleat.
Additional new shoes include the Quest Road ($100), a road cycling shoe with a stiff full nylon sole designed for easy pedaling to reduce foot fatigue. The heavily perforated film upper is bonded to a highly breathable mesh for optimal ventilation.
Lastly, an update to the best selling All-Road v5 ($90) features a secure and easy-to-adjust three strap closure for customizable comfort. The sole integrates a stiff composite plate for pedaling performance, finished with a durable rubber sole for confident off-the-bike traction and comfort.
