Under Armour: take on the beast of the east

2018 UA Mountain Running Series Continues in the Appalachian Mountains at Killington Resort

The Under Armour Mountain Running Series is back for a second year to provide trail athletes an unmatched racing experience in some of the most iconic resort destinations in the United States. In partnership with POWDR resorts, Under Armour launched the trail running series in 2017 so that runners — from beginners to world-class athletes — had the opportunity to elevate their game and push their limits.

“Our goal with the UA Mountain Running Series was to create unforgettable experiences for runners that would blow their minds away and create memories to last a lifetime.”

- Topher Gaylord, General Manager, Under Armour Run

The 2018 series features an energizing, single-day running festival with an exclusive basecamp experience that showcases the trail run community and culture. Runners of all levels are awarded a journey through the unique trails and course design at each mountain.

“At Under Armour, we are committed to providing not only the best-in-class product for runners, but also the best experiences. Our goal with the UA Mountain Running Series was to create unforgettable experiences for runners that would blow their minds away and create memories to last a lifetime,” said Gaylord.

The series kicked off last month in the heart of the Rocky Mountains at Copper Mountain, Colorado. Runners experienced a beautiful course surrounded by alpine wildflowers, spectacular scenery and, of course, thin mountain air. Over 650 runners competed, making this trail race one of the top 10 largest in Colorado.

UA athlete Kelly Wolf takes the top position on the podium at the award ceremony following her 25K victory

Under Armour athletes and professional trail runners Sarah Cotton and Kelly Wolf each took home individual wins in the 50k and 25k races, respectively, and were joined by fellow UA trail athletes and Run Crews from around the world.

“I had a blast racing the 25k at Copper,” said Wolf. “This was my first race since the Lavaredo 120K and I really had to push myself as there were some strong contenders behind me. There was so much energy out on the course and it was awesome to see runners from all over the world joining in!”

The next race takes place August 25, in Killington, VT, where runners will have the chance to experience some of the most rugged, grueling terrain in the country and race their choice of 50K, 25K, 10K and 5K distances. The famous Appalachian and Long Trails will offer extremely technical terrain and unforgivingly steep vertical slopes.
