GORE-TEX PRO Technology
GORE-TEX Pro Technology with Stretch
In order to create apparel more tailored for different activities, W.L. Gore & Associates created three new versions of GORE-TEX PRO Fabric. One optimizes ruggedness and durability, a second optimizes breathability, and a third adds stretch. Moving forward, these three versions of GORE-TEX PRO fabric can be combined by manufacturers to create garments that offer more dialed-in performance for specific end uses.

Wash & Care for GORE-TEX Garments
Whether a garment uses a PFC-based DWR or one of Gore’s new DWR free of PFCs of Environmental Concern, both need proper care to ensure optimal performance and longevity. In a general sense, wash and care is good for:
Removing dirt, oils and/or sweat, which helps reactivate and rejuvenate the breathability of the garment.
Reactivating water beading on the surface of the jacket, which prevents convective heat loss (convective heat loss happens when DWR wears off, allowing the surface of the jacket to become soaked; even though water cannot get through the membrane, the jacket feels cold and clammy, and to a perceived sense that the jacket is not working effectively)
Comfort Science Overview
Using rigorous scientific processes, GORE-TEX researchers lead the way in the study of comfort. Gore uses the term ‘Comfort Science’ to describe how it improves comfort in apparel by studying what makes users uncomfortable. W.L Gore & Associates, via its GORE-TEX brands, has invested in a huge range of one-of-a-kind equipment that allow its scientists to test, study and quantify aspects of fabric technology that few other companies are able to test. At Gore facilities, virtually no test equipment is “off the shelf.” It was all purpose-built by Gore, because nothing previously existed to do the kind of testing that Gore researchers wanted to do.

WINDSTOPPER® - GORE-TEX INFINIUM with WINDSTOPPER® garments are totally windproof, highly water resistant, and very breathable—protecting you in ways other jackets won't. This technology is available in a range of collections and designed for different end users. This technology offers maximum breathability to reduce the risk of overheating when active because perspiration can escape easily through the breathable membrane.

SHAKEDRY - Unlike more traditional fabric construction that pairs a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane with an exterior textile face fabric, GORE-TEX SHAKEDRY uses a construction where the membrane itself is the exterior of the fabric. This reduces bulk as well as the number of layers through which moisture
and heat must travel, which in turn helps make the fabric more breathable than any other waterproof technology. Inside, the garment is equipped with a very light but highly functional backer textile, which resultsingreatnext-to-skincomfort.GORE-TEXSHAKEDRYTM jacketscanbemadeaslightas120g/4.2oz and compress extremely small, making them a favorite among cyclists of every level where a waterproof shell is a necessity for those unpredictable fall days.INFINIUM Stretch Gloves - The use of stretch fabrics combined with a pre-shaped 3-D form achieved through a thermo-molding processalongwithfewerseamsimprovesbothfitandtactilityofGORE-TEXINFINIUMTM Stretch Gloves. This unique design and manufacturing process results in 30 percent fewer seams, which are often points of added bulk in a glove, and 35 percent less material used in construction.
